Space Game is a retro space adventure made by Elemodo, played in a web browser at app.game.elemodo.com and described on this website, https://game.elemodo.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information Space Game collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Consent

By using this website or the game, you consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.

Information we collect

When you create an account, we ask for your first and last name, your email address, and a password. You can add a profile photo later if you want to.

We record basic device and session information for each sign-in, including a device identifier, operating system, browser, timezone, language, and IP address. This is used to secure your account and to let you review and remove the devices signed in to it.

If you send us feedback, we receive your message and anything you choose to include with it.

Your game

To keep your game going on any device, we store your saved games on our servers, including your captain, their looks and outfits, your ship, your crew, your progress, missions, and inventory, and the time you last played. We also keep a short history of recent saves so a bad save can be recovered, and a record of which device is currently playing so two devices cannot overwrite each other.

What other players can see

Space Game shows you other captains who are flying in the same sector at the same time. While you are in a sector with other players, they can see your ship, where it is, and a display name taken from your account, which is your first name. They cannot see your email address or any other account details.

How your information is processed by third parties

Running the game requires a few service providers who act on our behalf:

  • Amazon Web Services hosts our servers and database, stores uploaded images such as profile photos, and sends our email.
  • Fathom Analytics provides privacy-focused website analytics without cookies or personal profiles.
  • Honeybadger provides error monitoring, so we can find and fix faults.

These providers process your information under their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the game, including saving and restoring your progress
  • Show you and other players to each other in shared sectors
  • Secure accounts, and find and prevent fraud and abuse
  • Understand how the game and this website are used, and improve them
  • Communicate with you, including sign-in emails, account notices, and replies to your feedback

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show advertising.

Log files

Like most websites, our servers keep log files of requests. These include IP addresses, browser type, date and time, and the pages requested. We use them to run, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

Cookies and local storage

Space Game uses cookies and your browser's local storage to keep you signed in, to remember settings such as light or dark mode and your control preferences, and to keep the game running smoothly. You can clear or block them in your browser, but the game needs them to work.

Data retention

We keep your account and saved games while your account is active. Backups of our database are kept for a limited time and then deleted. Data may be kept longer where the law requires it.

Account and data deletion

You can disable your account at any time from Settings in the game. You can also ask us to delete your account and your saved games completely by sending feedback from Settings while you are signed in.

California privacy rights (CCPA)

Under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to ask a business that collects their personal data to disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data it has collected, to ask it to delete that data, and to ask it not to sell that data. We do not sell personal data. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

GDPR data protection rights

Every user is entitled to the right to access their personal data, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to its processing under certain conditions, and to receive it in a portable form. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

Children's information

Space Game is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
